Welcome to Gemma Levitas Counselling and Psychotherapy, a safe place to talk. 

 

You, or someone you know, may be finding things difficult at the moment and are considering talking to someone about it. Perhaps you are feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or find yourself thinking too much, going over things again and again in your mind. Or perhaps you are not quite yourself, but are unable to figure out why.

 

Therapy provides a confidential, empathic, non-judgemental space in which to talk about your thoughts and feelings. Your therapist is there to listen and work with you to help you understand more about yourself and your relationships.  Together with your therapist, you can think about how your past experience influences the present, particularly your emotional life, relationships and behaviour, enabling you to gain insight and perspective into your situation and support you in moving forward. 

 

The therapuetic relationship is unique, in that the focus is on you. Your therapist will help you gain insight into your internal world, helping you to acquire a better understanding of yourself and your perception of the world around you. There might also be times during therapy when complex feelings arise, as you begin to think about and process your experiences.

 

 

 

 

By providing a safe, supportive setting, your therapist can help you to explore and work through your feelings. Many people find that the therapuetic process leads to a deeper understanding of themselves, which in turn can help us understand the way we relate to others and identify unwanted, self-destructive patterns and behaviours, ultimately helping us to manage our lives for the better.
